Summer Bridge Program
To apply for the program, click on the link at the bottom left of the page. The application deadline is March 15th. Once the application deadline passes, the selection process begins, and a specific number of students (determined by available funding) are selected and notified before Spring Break.
Here is some important information to know about the Bridge Summer Program experience:
- It is an immersive residential experience; therefore, students must live on campus during the summer for 6 weeks (late May until early July).
- Each student will be awarded a $3,000 stipend.
- Each student will be provided with housing and meals at no cost to them.
- Students will be matched with a faculty mentor to guide their research endeavors. Mentors will be aligned as much as possible based on the mentor's area of research expertise and the students' area of research interest.
- Students will also be partnered with a peer/buddy mentor who works in the same lab as the faculty mentor.
- Both peer and faculty mentors will guide students through hands-on lab research and/or field research, which will give students the opportunity to conduct experiments, collect data, analyze results/data, and interpret outcomes.
- At the end of the program, students will present their research outcomes in a symposium.
- After the program ends, students will also have the opportunity to receive travel funding for presenting their research at other symposia or conferences.
- Students will participate in professional development opportunities that includes a five-day professional development retreat.
- Students will participate in community outreach activities.
