Biography

Dr. Weale is a 1987 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine (OSU). Prior to veterinary college, he attended Vanderbilt University and received two degrees in biomedical engineering. Upon graduation from OSU, he entered companion animal clinical practice and worked as an associate and practice owner. He was co-director of a 4 doctor AAHA practice in the Columbus Ohio area. While in clinical veterinary medicine, the practice was awarded a Pfizer practice of excellence award that recognizes business management principles and staff and client engagement.

Additionally, Dr. Weale has been actively involved in the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) having served on numerous committees and eventually president of the OVMA (2009). For his outstanding service to the Ohio veterinary community, he has been twice recognized as OVMA Veterinarian of the Year.

In 2009, he decided to change career paths and enter academic veterinary medicine and has been on faculty at OSU, Ross University, Lincoln Memorial University-College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) and Arkansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine (A-State CVM). At LMU-CVM, he was part of the founding faculty and team that designed, implemented and oversaw the clinical year distributed veterinary educational programs that lead to AVMA-COE accreditation.

Dr. Weale is Associate Dean of Accreditation and Clinical Relations at A-State CVM and part of the founding faculty.

He is leading the veterinary distributive learning group, Consortium of Workplace Based Education and Learning (COWBEL) as its executive director. Dr. Weale has been a COE site visitor since 2018. He has participated in many site visits as a COE site visitor and as a veterinary administrator. Most recently Dr. Weale has been recognized with the Deans Award for Leadership at LMU, a distinguished alumnus of OSU and a distinguished service award from LMU.

Dr. Weale has high interest in veterinary education, to graduate confident, confident career-ready veterinarians and helping prepare new graduates to enter the veterinary profession.
