Bowyer and O'Connor Lead Jazz Writers Group
Dr. Don Bowyer, dean of the College of Fine Arts and Dr. Tom O’Connor, emeritus professor of music, are co-leaders of a new musical group, the Jonesboro Jazz Writers Big Band. Comprised of area music educators, retired musicians, students and dedicated amateurs, the group plays music written especially for the band by its own members. The next concert, to be directed by O’Connor, will be Sunday, June 1, in the Fine Arts Center. This should be some fine springtime entertainment.
