Tait and Research Featured on NPR Website
A story in National Public Radio's series, "Goats and Soda: Stories Of Life In A Changing World" features comments and photographs by Dr. Gabriel Tait, assistant professor of multimedia journalism. Tait was in Africa conducting research for his dissertation on Liberian culture and burial practices. The article, "Liberians Meet Death with Flowers, Trumpets And Cameras," is available here on the NPR website.

Hall Appointed to Journal's Editorial Board
Dr. John D. Hall, professor of psychology and counseling and coordinator of the nationally approved school psychology track of the Ed.S. degree program in psychology and counseling, has been appointed to the Editorial Review Board for the Trainers' Forum, the Journal of the Trainers of School Psychologists. The Trainers' Forum is a peer-refereed journal that features articles relevant to the preparation of school psychologists.

Bailey and Creibaum Present Allocation Formula
Jeff Bailey (right), library director, and Linda Creibaum, acquisitions and serials librarian, recently made a presentation at the Charleston Conference, "Issues in Book and Serial Acquisition," in South Carolina. Titled "Developing a Weighted Collection Development Allocation Formula," they demonstrated how they created a spreadsheet-based library collection development formula for allocating resource funds to departments or programs. They guided attendees through the process of creating an allocation formula similar to the one used at A-State, providing tools attendees could use to develop their own formula.

Students Cite Bates for Dedication to Teaching
Stephanie Bates, instructor in Spanish, received the National Society of Collegiate Scholars distinguished member award for exemplifying NSCS's goals. Consideration for the award is based on student nominations of faculty they believe best represents Arkansas State. Bates was cited especially for her continued efforts to make learning fun and enjoyable, and for the passion she demonstrates for her students to succeed.
