Guffey is Speaker for Wound Symposium
Dr. Stephen Guffey, professor of physical therapy, will be one of the featured speakers Monday, March 30, for the Wound Symposium, sponsored by the College of Nursing and Health Professions and St. Bernards Wound Services, at Fowler Center. The symposium will involve healthcare professionals across the region. Guffey has been engaged in research related to the bactericidal and fungicidal effects of visible and infrared light since 2005.

Bowman Chairs Delta Flix Film & Media Festival
Dr. Michael Bowman, assistant professor of creative media production, has finalized plans for the inaugural Delta Flix Film and Media Festival. He secured grants and community financial support for the festival, sponsored by the College of Media and Communication. Bowman explained the origin and what organizers hope to achieve in an interview with KASU. The schedule for the festival, which runs concurrently with Delta Symposium XXI, is available on the college website.

Krueger to Speak for Women's History Month
Dr. Kate Krueger, assistant professor of English, will make a Women's History Month presentation on "British Women Writers and the Short Story, 1850-1930: Reclaiming Social Space," on Monday, March 30. The emergence of the short story in Britain in the Victorian and Modernist period coincided with the rise of the professional woman writer. This presentation discusses ways in which women writers incited social change by revising notions of femininity and gender roles in their fiction.

Article by Devereux and Craig Published in NCURA
NCURA magazine, published by the National Council of University Research Administrators, has published an article by Emily Devereux, associate director of research development and research administration liaison, and Rebekah Craig, director of research development. Their article, titled "Cultivating a Student Research Community at a PUI," examines opportunities and challenges associated with establishing research programs for undergraduates at schools classified as primarily undergraduate institutions.

Procurement Group Cites Glasco as Buyer of Year
Lisa Glasco, buyer in Procurement and Travel Services, has been named "Buyer of the Year" by the Arkansas Chapter of NIGP, the not-for-profit institute for public procurement professionals. This award is based on significant contributions to the purchasing profession and the Arkansas chapter. Among her achievements, Glasco has published agency newsletters, served as conference discussion leader, developed training materials, and served on chapter committees including programs and membership.
