Mihir to Lead Institutional Effectiveness Mihir to Lead Institutional Effectiveness

Dr. Mihir is the new assistant vice chancellor for institutional effectiveness. Mihir, director of institutional effectiveness at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith the past three years, is author of several academic articles on the use of data in the strategic planning of universities. He will fill an expanded role in A-State's overall planning, along with the day-to-day needs of crucial data reports. Details are in the news release.

 
Devereux Certified as Research Administrator

Emily Devereux, director of research development, obtained Certified Research Administrator (CRA) status from the Research Administrators Certification Council. The CRA designation means an individual has met the Research Administrators Certification Council's eligibility requirements, including degree status, minimum of three years of research administration experience, and success on a comprehensive exam over the cycle of sponsored funding, project development and administration, and sponsor interface.

Beineke's Chapter and Article Published Beineke's Chapter and Article Published

Dr. John Beineke, distinguished professor of education, has a chapter titled "High School by Ernest Boyer" in Popular Educational Classics, edited by Joseph Devitis, and an article, "A Paradoxical Partnership in Higher Education: The Alliance Between Alfred Kinsey and Herman Wells" in the American Educational History Journal. A.K. Whitney's article in The Atlantic, "The Man Who Tried to Kill Math in America" is based on Beineke's book on William Heard Kilpatrick.

 
Hamilton and Lockhart to Talk on KLEK

Rasheda Hamilton (right), director of Upward Bound, and Jerrod O. Lockhart, director of the TRIO Student Support Services, will be interviewed Wednesday at 9 a.m. for KLEK-FM's "Community Conversations" series. They will discuss programs and services available to A-State students through their respective areas. The federally funded TRIO program serves disadvantaged, first-generation students, and those with disabilities. Other A-State faculty and staff will be on future programs.

Journal Article Recognizes SBTDC's Work Journal Article Recognizes SBTDC's Work

A recent success story involving the Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) was featured in the American Journal of Transportation. Laura Miller, SBTDC director, was quoted in the article about John and Sabrina Ryan and their company, GLS Trucking, which consulted with SBTDC for financial and market research on their way to an Economic Development Program Plus grant through First Community Bank and the Federal Home Loan Bank.
