Cox's Farmedic Expertise Helps Save 2 Men
Emergency responders in Poinsett County recently summoned Dr. Brent Cox, assistant professor of disaster preparedness and emergency management, to assist with rescuing two men entrapped in a grain storage bin. Cox teaches the Farmedic course and has expertise in techniques used to extract workers trapped in grain. The rescue took several hours, but ended successfully with the two men pulled to safety. National Fraternity Honors Hurdle as Top Adviser
Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity recognized Alexis Hurdle, assistant dean for Greek life at A-State, with the Fraternity Greek Adviser of the Year Award during the group's General Assembly in Miami. The award is presented annually to an adviser who has rendered exemplary service to the Greek system. She was nominated by Dylan Bateman, representing the campus chapter of Lambda Chi. NYIT Commends Facilities Management Team
The 70 members of the Facilities Management team who worked on the renovation of Wilson Hall for use by New York Institute of Technology's College of Osteopathic Medicine received the Standard of Excellence Award during NYITCOM's first white coat ceremony. Rusty Stroud (right), director of construction services, was FM project manager. The Facilities Management team was recognized for quality work, safety, integrity and unwavering service.

Information and Technology Staff Honored by NYIT
Nearly 30 members of the Information and Technology Services staff were honored Friday with a Standard of Excellence Award during NYITCOM's white coat ceremony. NYITCOM honored the ITS team for its dedication and commitment to establishment of quality, reliable state-of-the-art information technology in nearly 50 teaching and learning spaces within Wilson Hall. David Engelken (left), oversaw the project and Eric Barnett (right) was project manager.
