Mello Researches Sales Forecast Models
An article by Dr. John E. Mello, professor of supply chain management, has been published in Foresight: The International Journal of Applied Forecasting. Titled "Research Needed on Advisory Forecasts," Mello's article is about the need for more research by academia on sales forecast models that can update manufacturing on likely sales in the short term, and enable production planners to better allocate line time and labor.

Devereaux and Blackburn Publish on Research Administration
Emily Devereux, director of research development, and Jessica Blackburn, director of foundation relations, have co-authored an article, "Collaborative Impact of Research & Advancement: A 3-Million Dollar Idea," in NCURA magazine, published by the National Council of University Research Administrators. Their article explores how A-State has seen Research and Technology Transfer and University Advancement become partially integrated through team efforts, helping to achieve impact in both competitive research and foundation funding. This has led to serving both faculty interests and institutional interests by securing external funding, along with achieving improvement in productivity, specialization and fiscal efficacy.

Peanut Research by Medina-Bolivar Published
Dr. Fabricio Medina-Bolivar, professor of plant metabolic engineering, Tianhong Yang, Ph.D. student in molecular biosciences and research assistant Lingling Fang published an article in Plant Physiology. The article describes a fundamental step in the production of arachidins in peanut. Arachidins are important to human health due to their antioxidant, anticancer and antiviral properties. A provisional patent application also has been filed. The article is available online.

Fears Serves on Panel for AEJMC Commission
Dr. Lillie Fears, professor of multimedia journalism, served as a panelist during the recent Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) national conference in Minneapolis. The session was sponsored and conducted by AEJMC's Commission on the Status of Minorities. The panelists' topic was titled, "Safe Places for New Faces: Attracting and Retaining a Diverse Faculty and Graduate Student Body."
