Bohn is May Professor of the Month

Congratulations to Lisa Bohn, assistant professor of theatre, who has been named Professor of the Month for May by the Program-Level Assessment Committee and Office of Assessment. In an online video, she and theatre major Alyssa Burleson of North Little Rock discuss how the department faculty meets individually with students to discuss their strengths, areas for improvement, and strategies for reaching their career goals.

Academy Names Bounds as Research Fellow Academy Names Bounds as Research Fellow

The National Education Finance Academy recognized Dr. Steve Bounds, associate professor of educational leadership, as a Distinguished Research & Practice Fellow for his contributions to education on resource allocations, distribution and policy. At the academy's conference, in Cincinnati, Bounds presented "State of the States: Arkansas," in which he gave an overview of public school and higher education funding changes over the past two years.

Dr. Matthew Hill, assistant professor of finance, and director of the Center for Treasury and Financial Analytics, co-authored a paper accepted for the Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management. In "Determinants of REIT Credit Ratings," Hill and co-author Charod Dodd used ordered probit regression models to examine factors that influence agencies' credit ratings of real estate investment trusts (REITs). Results suggest rating determinants vary significantly by agency.

 
Vickrey Presents Seminar Keynote Address

Kim Vickrey, professor of graphic design, presented the keynote address, "Empowering Women (and Yourself!) Through the Lens" for the Arkansas Women Photographers seminar, hosted by the College of Liberal Arts and Communication and the Adams Estate. Vickrey's presentation showcased digital equestrian photographs she made last year in California and Iceland. The Arkansas organization is a selective group of female photographers whose goal is to share photos and education.

Foster Presents Research on Suicide Prevention

Dr. Mark Foster, assistant professor of nursing, presented a poster, "Gaps in Suicide Prevention in the Delta" at the Advanced Practice Nurses of the Ozarks conference. The study focused on educational gaps and the lack of familiarity with resources on suicide prevention in high-risk populations. Findings indicate a need for standardization of suicide education in nursing and improved awareness of resources for practicing providers.
