Doyle Reports on KASU's Historic Beginnings
Station Manager Mike Doyle reports in an online news release about a historic milestone for KASU and the staff's plans for a celebratory sock hop. History was made in a small room in Wilson Hall, 60 years ago on May 17, 1957, when KASU radio signed on the air and began fulfilling its public broadcasting mission. Even with low power, the station reached the area with news about the blossoming college.

McGregor Named Honors Professor of Year
Dr. Loretta Neal McGregor, professor of psychology, was named Honors Professor of the Year Friday during the Honors College student recognition ceremony. Honors students nominated seven faculty members and voted on the award. Nominators said she develops a greater appreciation for psychology, teaches valuable life lessons, and challenges students to make a positive impact with their new knowledge. McGregor joined the A-State faculty in 2005.

Doyle Leads Concurrent Re-Accreditation
Congratulations to Barbara Doyle, coordinator of concurrent programs, who led the effort to attain re-accreditation for the concurrent enrollment program. The Accreditation Commission of the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) made the decision. Doyle and her colleagues were commended for their commitment to NACEP's quality standards. She will receive an accreditation certificate and continuous improvement recommendations from the Commission. Details are online.

Shumway Helps Develop Online Plant Reference
Dr. Cal Shumway, associate professor of agronomy, collaborated with two weed scientists from the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture to develop an online reference for agriculture professionals and homeowners. To help determine if plants have been injured by herbicides, one can consult the Herbicide Injury Database and view photos and cross-referenced data the researchers have collected over two decades. Provence is Adviser for Up 'til Dawn Team
Students in the Up 'til Dawn program, working with adviser Katey Provence, coordinator of student services, made the Top 10 list of college fundraisers for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The students raised $75,185, putting A-State in ninth place in the national rankings, up from 10th in 2016. The fundraising results were featured in The Jonesboro Sun and are detailed in a news release.
