Dr. D. Mike McDaniel, professor of communication disorders, in association with Dr. Susan Mott, associate professor of physical therapy, and Dr. Richard Neeley, professor of communication disorders, have published a research article in the American Journal of Audiology. The study, "Effects of Bilateral Hearing Aid Use on Balance in Experienced Adult Hearing Aid Users," was an interdisciplinary study in which balance was electronically quantified for participants age 60 and above, with and without their hearing aids.

Dr. Tillman Kennon, professor of science education, recently gave a presentation on behalf of the Arkansas BalloonSAT team, which he and Dr. Ross Carroll, associate professor of physics, led in an observation of the total solar eclipse last August in Fulton, Mo. Kennon addressed the Astronomical Society of the Pacific's annual meeting in St. Louis, and discussed the observation team's experiences and A-State STEAM students' participation.

Dr. Lillie Fears, professor of multimedia journalism production, is co-author of an article in Communication Teacher. Fears and associates interviewed racially and ethnically diverse early-career public relations practitioners to learn more about the factors that most contributed to individuals' success in college and in the profession. Respondents said they would have preferred more training and technical skill development in college. The article is available online.

Dr. John D. Hall, James and Wanda Lee Vaughn Endowed Professor in psychology and counseling, was recently selected to join the editorial review board of the peer-reviewed journal School Psychology Forum: Research in Practice, published by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). The professional journal focuses on promoting and disseminating research-to-practice scholarship that benefits school psychologists in their clinical practices.

Dr. Marcus C. Tribbett, assistant professor of English, wrote the lead essay in the fall issue of The Southern Quarterly: A Journal of Arts and Letters in the South. Titled "Three Williams and a Subversive Text: Collaboration, Communal Agency, and Resistant Identities in 'Running a Thousand Miles for Freedom (1860),' " the essay concerns a slave narrative describing William and Ellen Craft's escape from slavery in antebellum Georgia.
