Hill's Finance Research Accepted for Journal Hill's Finance Research Accepted for Journal

An article by Dr. Matthew Hill, assistant professor of finance and director of the Center for Treasury and Financial Analytics, has been accepted for the Journal of Banking and Finance. In "Operating Performance and Aggressive Trade Credit Practices," Hill and co-author Chris Lawrey of the University of South Alabama faculty discuss advantages of such policies for management. Lawrey happens to be an A-State alumnus.

 
Labovitz Directs Award-Winning Howlers Band

Congratulations to Dr. Sarah Labovitz, associate professor of music, associate director of bands and interim director of athletics bands, on her students' latest accomplishment. In competition with bands from the Sun Belt Conference universities, A-State's Howlers Basketball Band won the inaugural Sun Belt Pep Band Award, based on school spirit, creativity and sportsmanship, during the conference basketball tournaments in New Orleans.

Thompson Takes Helm of Professional Group Thompson Takes Helm of Professional Group

Adonis Thompson, associate director of residence life, assumed office as president of the Southwest Association of College and University Housing Officers (SWACUHO) during the group's annual conference. SWACUHO is a regional organization of student housing personnel at more than 70 two and four-year higher education institutions, with most members being in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Thompson joined the A-State staff in 2012.

 
Peters is Lecturer for Texas Conference

Dr. Christopher S. Peters, assistant professor of psychology, was an invited speaker at the Texas A&M University-Texarkana's Program for Learning and Community Engagement. His lecture, titled "Forensic Evidence-Based Practices: The Reciprocal Relationship between Psychological Science and Law," touched on a series of famous court cases, the research spawned by those cases, and the current procedural recommendations based on that research.

Long Presents on Impact of Sexual Assault Long Presents on Impact of Sexual Assault

Dr. Jody Long (left), assistant professor of social work, and Melissa Halsell, a graduate student in social work, made a presentation about the impact on sexual assault victims during the Social Work Conference on campus. Noting that only five percent of reported sexual assaults lead to a conviction, they discussed what community, legislative and other leaders can do to help change the current culture.
