Faculty Get NSF Funding for Writing Project
Three faculty members have attained National Science Foundation funding for a project to help students better prepare for careers in the STEM professions. Dr. Anne Grippo, dean, Sciences and Mathematics, is principal investigator and Dr. Kristi Costello, associate professor of English and director of the Writing Program and the Writing Center, is co-principal investigator. Dr. Airek Beauchamp, assistant professor of English, helped design and write the proposal. Details are online.

Wilkinson is Curator for Art Exhibition 'Pink'
Melissa Wilkinson, associate professor of art, curated a new exhibition opening today in the Fine Arts Center Art Gallery. "Pink" is a multi-media group exhibition featuring the work of a broad, international group of artists, including Wilkinson. The show continues through Oct. 10, when eight of the participating artists will be on campus to discuss their work. Details are in an online news release.

Lorence Selected to Lead International Group
Dr. Argelia Lorence, professor of metabolic engineering, was elected unanimously to the office of president-elect of the Phytochemical Society of North America (PSNA). She and other newly elected officers will join the executive team to lead PSNA over the upcoming year. PSNA members share an interest in phytochemistry and the role of plant substances in related fields, and promotes research on the chemistry and biochemistry of plant constituents.

Mishra Elected to Professional Association's Board
Pradeep Mishra, instructor in graphic communication and director of Printing Services, was elected first vice president of the Graphic Communications Education Association (GCEA) during the group's annual conference at Millersville University in Pennsylvania. He will serve a two-year term on the board of directors for GCEA, a worldwide association of educators that works in close partnership with the graphic communications and imaging technology industries.

James Shares Library Info with Medical School
Erika James, administrative specialist at Dean B. Ellis Library, along with Sloane Kelley, director, and Shya Washington and Janet Jamison, associates, of the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) at A-State, spoke at NYITCOM's new student orientation on "Two Libraries, One Voice," an overview of resources and services available to NYITCOM students through NYITCOM's library and Ellis Library.
