Dr. Bert Greenwalt, professor of agricultural economics, was at a much earlier stage of his career when he had an idea for an agricultural business conference that would take the educational mission of the College of Agriculture beyond the campus and into the region. Next month, he will direct the 25th edition of the annual conference, which draws hundreds to the campus. Details are online.

Four members of the Department of Social Work faculty made presentations at the Global Awareness Society International's annual interdisciplinary conference, "Impact of Globalization on Social Institutions." Dr. Patricia Walls, Dr. Evi Taylor and Dr. Rejoice Addae presented "Simulation Training: An Innovative Approach to Improve Outcomes for Social Workers and Other Professionals," while Dr. Jody Long, Addae and Taylor presented "Gender, Social Injustices and Sexual Assault."

Jeannean Hall Rollins, associate professor of medical imaging and radiation sciences, presented “Trauma Radiography 101” at the national meeting of the Association of Collegiate Educators in Radiologic Technology. She discussed the team environment in which the trauma radiographer works. Next month, she will speak on “Radiographic Procedures Review” with a contributor to the internationally used Merrill's Atlas of Radiographic Positioning and Procedures, of which she is an author.

Dr. Kelly Damphousse, chancellor, was co-host with Dr. Joe Steinmetz, chancellor of the University of Arkansas, for the first Arkansas Statewide Greek Life Symposium in Little Rock. Almost 90 Greek life employees and students from seven colleges and universities gathered at UALR to discuss best practices for minimizing risks and increasing safety for participants in sororities and fraternities at the various campuses. Dr. Amy R. Pearce, professor of psychology, was appointed to the advisory board of the nonprofit comedy group Science Riot, which trains STEM experts. Participating professionals who come from diverse backgrounds complete a three-week workshop in comedy writing and performance, with feedback from professional comedians. The experience culminates with a showcase where each scientist delivers their first comedy talk in public. Pearce was in the first group who performed in Little Rock.
