Aryal Receives International Faculty Award
Dr. Khem K. Aryal, assistant professor of English, has been awarded the Global Awareness Society International’s faculty award, the Dr. and Mrs. Chang Shub Roh and Family Global Awareness Scholarship, for 2019. The award was in recognition of his paper, “Away from Workshops of Empire: Reinventing Creative Writing for the 21st Century World.” The award was presented at the organization's 28th annual conference in Marrakech, Morocco.

Salo Co-Authors Study of Lost Battlefield in Hawaii
Dr. Edward Salo, assistant professor of history, co-authored a paper, "The Ongoing Battle of Ewa Plain, Hawaii: Resurrection of a Lost Battlefield,” presented at the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training’s conference on preserving U.S. military heritage. The paper examined local groups' efforts to preserve the former Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Ewa and plantation villages attacked Dec. 7, 1941. Salo was senior historian for the project.

Robertson Receives PBL Adviser Award
Congratulations to Dr. Patricia Robertson, professor of business law and department chair, for her recognition as the Arkansas Phi Beta Lambda Adviser of the Year for 2018-19. The award recognizes current contributions and her 10-year involvement in PBL. She was one of the advisers who helped restart the campus chapter. She has supported students and PBL through her attendance at 10 national and multiple state leadership conferences.

Health Center Staff Earns Certification
Victoria Williams (left), director, and Ashlee Gill, assistant director, Student Health Center, have received the American College Health Association (ACHA) College Health and Wellness Professional (CHWP) certification. Both are advanced practice registered nurses (APRN). Because college health is a fundamental component of student success and retention, the CHWP endorsement authenticates the center's commitment to providing quality healthcare and supporting the university’s mission.

Robinette Serves on Panel of Librarians
Robert Robinette, assessment and academic engagement librarian, Ellis Library, served on a panel of research and reference librarians at the Arkansas Library Association Reference Exchange Day in Conway. The panel was comprised of public, academic, government and corporate librarians who answered questions and offered suggestions on best practices for assisting library users with their research and information needs. Robinette joined the library staff in 2009.
