Newman is National Pork Board President
Dr. David Newman, associate professor of animal science, was recently elected president of the National Pork Board, which oversees the Pork Checkoff program that oversees promotion, research and educational activities. Newman, who also is a pork producer on his Missouri farm, was interviewed recently about factors affecting pork quality in Farm Journal's AgWeb. Terry to Serve with College Board Group
Dr. Bryan Terry, vice chancellor for enrollment management, has been invited to serve as a member of the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) Higher Education Advisory Committee, a group of 15-20 academic and enrollment leaders who advise the AP Program on policies, procedures, developments and activities related to higher education. Terry was nominated to serve a three-year appointment, which begins Oct. 1.

Appointments and Transitions Announced in Five Areas
Employees in five areas within the Division of Finance and Administration have new or revised responsibilities as a result of streamlining the organizational structure for efficiency and responsiveness, announced Carol Barnhill and Myra Goodwin. Lisa Glasco has been named assistant director of Contract Administration and Strategic Sourcing. Michael Smith has been named assistant director of Procurement Services, and Nanya French has been named procurement buyer. Garry Patterson is director of Accounts Payable, Disbursing and Travel Services; Ashley Thomas and Connie Zolen are assisting in Travel Services. More information is online.

Sikkel Research Published in Coral Reefs
Congratulations to Dr. Paul Sikkel, associate professor of aquatic biology, lead author of research published in the journal Coral Reefs. In the article, "Changes in abundance of fish-parasitic gnathiid isopods associated with warm-water bleaching events on the northern Great Barrier Reef," the researchers study the effects of climate-driven mass bleaching events on gnathiid isopod populations around Lizard Island, Great Barrier Reef. Moore Joins Faculty in Athletic Training
Welcome to Dr. Carlitta M. Moore, clinical education coordinator and assistant professor in the athletic training program, Department of Health, Physical Education and Sport Sciences. Moore completed her Doctorate of Educational Leadership, with a concentration in higher education, at Fayetteville State University last December. Before coming to A-State she was assistant athletics director for sports medicine and head athletic trainer at FSU in Fayetteville, N.C.
