Armstard Joins Media & Journalism Faculty Armstard Joins Media & Journalism Faculty

Terrance Armstard is the new instructor in photojournalism and photography in the School of Media and Journalism. Previously he was a photojournalist and managing editor at the El Dorado News-Times, and before that was a staff member at the Monroe News-Star. Armstard also is serving as faculty adviser for Delta Digital News Service. He earned bachelor and master's degrees in communication at Louisiana-Monroe. 

 
Iriarte and Velazquez Earn Research Status

Campus Queretaro faculty members Gustavo Iriarte (left), economics, and Dr. Gerardo Velazquez, mathematics and physics, earned candidacy in the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI).  The SNI is a governmental agency that promotes and rewards research activity in Mexico and is part of CONACYT, a research funds-granting agency similar to the National Science Foundation in the U.S.  Candidates are selected based on their research productivity and knowledge creation.

Works by Art + Design Faculty Featured in Biennial Exhibition

The 2019 Faculty Biennial is underway at Bradbury Art Museum in Fowler Center. This year’s exhibition includes a wide range of works by Bill Rowe, Cameron Buckley, Cara Sullivan, John Salvest, Kim Vickery, Melissa Wilkinson, Michael Loren Diaz, Robert McCarroll, Shelley Gipson and Susan Whiteland. A separate solo exhibition at BAM features work by Curtis Steele, emeritus professor of art. In addition, a piece by Salvest is included in a retrospective exhibition at The Art Museum of the University of Memphis.

 
Hansen Co-Edits Journal Issue on Heritage Studies Hansen Co-Edits Journal Issue on Heritage Studies

Dr. Gregory Hansen, professor of folklore and English, edited a special issue of the Missouri Folklore Society Journal with Dr. Michelle Stefano of the Library of Congress. Titled “Folklore and Heritage Studies," volume 37 of the journal explores central interests within heritage studies. Many of the entries are drawn from presentations at the 2017 consortium of the U.S. chapter of the Association of Critical Heritage Studies, held at A-State.

 
Stripling Presents on Student Success Ideas

Dr. Rick Stripling, associate professor of college student personnel services and executive director, Student Affairs Project, joined colleagues from ASU-Newport and Henderson State to make a joint presentation at the Partners for Student Success annual conference in Hot Springs. They covered points on creating proposals, getting buy-in from stakeholders, implementing, and reporting on the progress of enrollment management and student success initiatives.
