Four research posters co-authored by Dr. Amanda Mohler, assistant professor of occupational therapy, were accepted for presentation at the American Occupational Therapy Association annual conference. Unfortunately, the event had to be canceled because of the pandemic crisis. Her poster topics included a study of the impact of passenger conversation on elderly drivers' reaction time in collision avoidance scenarios, and a disability's impact on a college freshman's experience.

Ashley N. Schulz, a Ph.D. candidate in the environmental sciences program, is lead author, and her adviser, Dr. Travis Marsico (left), professor of botany and interim department chair, is co-author of a paper that is published in the journal NeoBiota. Their research involved development of a standardized protocol and scale for aiding managers and policymakers with more consistently determining the impact of invasive non-native insects.

Sara Walker, program director, emergency medical services, was among the College of Nursing and Health Professions faculty, students and alumni who joined the local medical first responders to help provide assistance to victims of the March 28 tornado. Walker worked with an ambulance crew responding in hard-hit areas, and EMS students gained valuable experience. Details are in a news release and in today's Jonesboro Sun.

Dr. Myleea Hill, professor of strategic communication, has been reappointed to the editorial board of the Journal of Public Interest Communications. Hill, who has been a member of JPIC’s board since its founding in 2017, primarily reviews articles related to advertising, public relations, and pedagogy in the public interest communications field. The interdisciplinary journal publishes peer-reviewed research in the emerging field of public interest communications.

Dr. Edward Salo, assistant professor of history, was appointed to serve on the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Trail Committee by Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin. The committee is tasked with planning the educational component of the A-State to Downtown Jonesboro Trail, as well as assisting in fundraising for the informational trail markers. The mayor also appointed Salo to the Jonesboro Public Safety Surveillance Equipment Committee.
