Hwang and Stewart Take on New Duties
Effective July 1, Dr. Yeonsang Hwang (left), associate professor of civil engineering, will become associate dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science, a position he has held on an interim basis since 2018. Jason Stewart, instructor in civil engineering and program director, will concurrently fill a new position of director of accreditation. McKay Co-Authors Mosquito Research
Dr. Tanja McKay, professor of entomology and director of programs in environmental science and molecular biosciences, is co-author with her graduate student, Sofija Todorovic, of an article just published in Veterinary Parasitology. Based on research Todorovic conducted, their work examines how mosquitoes tend to aggregate at doorways, and their potential to transmit heartworm disease to animals. Todorovic is now in her second year of vet school.

Hatch is Retiring from Music Department
Congratulations to Ken Hatch, assistant professor of music, who is concluding a 37-year career. A colleague noted Hatch ". . . inspired students . . . at the highest levels of musicianship and proficiency." Career highlights include teaching numerous topics and authoring a multimedia text on clarinet techniques. A soloist with bands and orchestras throughout the South, Hatch was a clarinetist for the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra for more than 20 years. Tributes are online.

Yanowitz to Present at Virtual Poster Session
Dr. Karen Yanowitz, professor of psychology, will present four research posters at the virtual poster session of the Association for Psychological Science annual conference. Two posters are first-authored by students she mentors. Lindsey Hall is presenting research from her senior honors thesis on the long-term impact of attending a health-based science camp. Faith Carr, Charles Bartholomae and four other students will present their study of college students’ stalking schemas.

Medley Appointed to Journal Advisory Board
Dr. Meagan Medley, assistant professor of psychology, accepted an appointment to the editorial advisory board of the refereed journal School Psychology Review, published by the National Association of School Psychologists. Its main purpose is communicating scholarly advances in research, training and practice related to psychology and education, and specifically to school psychology. Medley teaches in the school psychology track of the specialist degree program.
