A research study Dr. Elizabeth Nix (left), associate professor of nursing, and Katie Brown, a dietetics program alumna, was published in the Nephrology Nursing Journal. They conducted the quantitative study with peritoneal dialysis patients to ascertain their knowledge of protein and phosphorus in their diet. Patients were surveyed to see if they understood the importance of protein consumption and its role in their overall health.

Congratulations to Tabatha Simpson Farrow, director, Writing Center, Kelli Listenbee, director, Learning Support Services, and Porsha McGregor, academic coordinator, College of Mathematics and Sciences, who have received accreditation for their tutoring programs through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). Accreditation certifies the training program that each of these unit's tutors goes through, and then the tutors are certified by the center once they have completed training and the required number of tutoring hours.

Dr. Alexandr M. Sokolov, assistant professor of engineering management, and program coordinator, recently had three of his conference proceedings accepted for publication. The conference topics included process improvement, cost-efficiency, and value engineering principles. Also, his presentation "Blended Project Management for Construction" was accepted for presentation at the American Society of Engineering Management's international annual conference in October.

Best wishes to Sandra Seay, assistant professor of music, who shared her love of vocal music with countless students during a 53-year career at A-State. Seay began teaching here in 1967 after completing her Master of Arts degree at Missouri. Among her many contributions, she started the Tribal Tones, a pops ensemble, and the Faculty and Staff Choir, and she often led choral students on school recruitment tours.

The election season in Jonesboro will look a little different this year without one of the veteran observers offering commentary from a faculty perspective. Dr. Richard Wang, associate professor of political science, recently retired from Arkansas State. With his Ph.D. from Wayne State University, Wang joined the A-State faculty in 1988. Among his many professional activities, he often has provided analysis of political developments for news media representatives.
