Dean Hanrahan Announces Retirement Plans

One of the longest-serving deans in A-State's history, Dr. Susan Hanrahan, announced she will retire in June 2021. Hanrahan has overseen the initiation and growth of numerous programs in the College of Nursing and Health Professions during her 25 years in the dean's chair. She also secured major gifts to build the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Health Sciences and launch the Beck Center for Veterans. She is featured online.

Hallett Co-Authors Book Chapter for Librarians Hallett Co-Authors Book Chapter for Librarians

Dominique Hallett, government information and STEM librarian, Ellis Library, and Kenya Flash, Yale University, have co-authored a chapter, “Documents De-Emphasized? The Shifting Roles of Government Information Professionals,” in the book, "The Academic Librarian in the Digital Age," which was published in August by McFarland and Co. The chapter discusses the history of government information professionals and their shifting roles over time as technology has changed.

 
McGregor is Recognized by Peer Educators

Dr. Loretta N. McGregor, professor of psychology, recently received a Presidential Citation from the Society for the Teaching of Psychology (STP), division two, of the American Psychological Association). STP, which promotes excellence in the teaching and learning of psychology, conferred the prestigious award to McGregor in recognition of her outstanding service to students, academia, psychology and STP itself. She joined the A-State faculty in 2005.

Ruby Writes Numerous Texts in 41-Year Career Ruby Writes Numerous Texts in 41-Year Career

Congratulations to Dr. Ralph Ruby, professor of computer and information technology, who has retired after 41 years at A-State. Ruby introduced microcomputers to business education majors in the mid-1980s. A mentor to many, he often shared career advice with this students, especially those in the methods and materials classes. Ruby also authored more than 50 textbooks for microcomputer applications and related topics, and more recently developed iOS apps.

 
Lott is Best Known for Teaching Creative Writers

Dr. Rick Lott, professor of English, retired from A-State this past summer, concluding a 33-year faculty career. Associates say his students especially enjoyed his creative writing and advanced creative writing classes. Lott, a talented poet, was the author of two books of poetry as well as numerous poems in literary publications. In addition to teaching, he served as faculty sponsor for Tributary, the student literary magazine, for many years.
