Dr. H. Steve Leslie, instructor of business communication, and Dr. Natalie Johnson-Leslie, associate professor of secondary education, co-authored “A ‘toxic’ dilemma or implied promotion: Case of the HVMS Inc., leadership” in the double-blind peer-reviewed Journal of Business Cases and Applications. The case presents practical teaching and learning suggestions based on the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and Bloom’s Taxonomy assessment of learning standards.

In continuation of our series highlighting new faculty, this week Inside A-State introduces Dr. Hrishikesh (Hrish) Desai, assistant professor of accounting. Before coming to A-State in August, Desai was a Chazen Visiting Scholar at Columbia Business School. He completed his Ph.D. in Accounting at the University of Melbourne earlier this year. His research interests include accounting regulation, corporate governance, executive compensation and financial reporting.

Dr. Kyle Gustafson, assistant professor in biological sciences, is teaching courses in the fields of zoology and conservation, including mammalogy, parasitology, and conservation genomics. He conducted research on carnivore genetics during his post-doctoral work at the University of Wyoming, and developed parasitological expertise while completing his Ph.D. at Oklahoma State. His lab will focus on the parasitological diseases and conservation genomics of local Arkansas species.

Dr. Nairam Simoes, assistant professor of music, is teaching trumpet at A-State after earning his Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. A native of Brazil who began his U.S. education at Memphis, he has been invited recently by multiple institutions to present virtual masterclasses. He also has initiated the A-State Trumpet Talk Series, bringing in virtual guest artist presentations.

Dr. Neal Ternes is a new assistant professor in sport management. For the past two years, he worked as a visiting instructor at Miami University while completing requirements for his Ph.D. degree at Florida State University. Ternes' research interests include sport and politics, especially the development of community identities and political action through sporting events, along with sport management and sport culture.
