Dolan, Harris Guide Students with NASA Project
Congratulations to Dr. Maureen Dolan (left), associate professor of molecular biology and director of the biotechnology program, and Shea Harris (right), outreach director, Arkansas Biosciences Institute. They are serving as advisers to a team of A-State students who made a successful research proposal to NASA. A-State's team is one of five selected nationally that will prepare an experiment to be run on the International Space Station. Details are online.

Research by Green and Cupp is Published
Dr. LaToya Green, assistant professor of physical therapy, is lead author of an article published in the Annals of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. Co-authors are JoAnna Cupp, assistant professor of dietetics and program director, and Doctor of Physical Therapy graduates from the 2020 class. Based on their study, they concluded lighter weights using a blood flow restriction protocol is as effective for gaining strength as high resistance exercise.

Jeong is Lead Author of BioEnergy Research
Dr. Hyunju Jeong, assistant professor of civil engineering, is lead author of an article recently published in BioEnergy Research. The study aimed at optimizing multimodal routes connecting nodes for biofuel stock supply, biofuel production plants, and biodiesel consumers in rural areas having limited infrastructure. The article, "An Application of GIS-Linked Biofuel Supply Chain Optimization Model for Various Transportation Network Scenarios in Northern Great Plains (NGP), USA," is online.

Pork Board Elects Newman to Second Term
Dr. David Newman, associate professor of animal science, has been elected to a second term as president of the National Pork Board, a checkoff organization with regulatory oversight from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The NPB checkoff program was established by Congress in 1985. Elected by producers and appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture to the board of directors in 2015, Newman has been a board officer since 2018.

Duvall Named Top Coach in Cross Country
Congratulations to Jesse Duvall, head coach of the Red Wolves women's cross country team, upon his selection as Sun Belt Conference coach of the year. This is the second consecutive time he has been selected for the honor, and it comes after the A-State team claimed its second straight conference title. The Red Wolves became the first team to repeat as women's conference champs since 2011. Details are online.
