Congratulations to Dr. Jessica Curtis (left), assistant professor of psychology, and alumna Emily Johnson, M.S. in psychological science, who have co-authored an article, "A multi-site preregistered paradigmatic test of the ego depletion effect." The research on which they collaborated has been accepted for publication in the journal Psychological Science, the flagship journal of the Association for Psychological Science.

Three poems by Ash Bowen, assistant professor of English and literature, Campus Queretaro, have been published in UCity Review. The poems are "The Other Version of Eden," "Lovers' Reunion at the University of Arkansas," and "My Daughter Tells Me Green Is the Color." Bowen’s poetry has appeared in New England Review, Kenyon Review Online, Best of the Net, Verse Daily, and a full-length collection, The Even Years of Marriage.

Dr. Rick Stripling, associate professor of educational leadership, was a panelist for an online NASPA briefing series for student affairs professionals. His presentation focused on how branding in student affairs translates to student success from the community college, undergraduate and graduate level. He and other presenters also discussed developing strategies for strengthening internal and external partnerships to build a strong student affairs brand.

Dr. Veena S. Kulkarni, associate professor of sociology, and grants and professional development coordinator, Liberal Arts and Communication, co-authored an opinion article in a leading daily publication in India, The Economic Times. The analysis, based on a nationally representative India Human Development Survey, indicates the relationship between subjective well-being and age to be an inverted U-shape, contrary to what has been observed in a majority of countries.

Dr. Brady Banta, who retired from A-State as head of archives and special collections at Ellis Library, is completing his first year as a member of the Arkansas History Commission. Gov. Asa Hutchinson appointed him to the seven-member commission. An advisory board to the State Archives, the commission helps preserve and promote Arkansas history. Banta also served as associate director of the heritage studies Ph.D. program.
