Hance’s Rejection Research is Published
Congratulations to Dr. Margaret Hance, assistant professor of psychology, whose empirical research report is in press in the journal Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking. The article, “The impact of rejection sensitivity on self-disclosure within the context of online dating,” is co-authored by Elizabeth Wilson, a student in the master’s degree program in psychological science. Hance joined the A-State faculty in 2019.

Kays Foundation Approves Gustafson Proposal
A grant proposal to the Kays Foundation from Dr. Kyle Gustafson, assistant professor of biology and environmental health, has been approved. His department will receive $18,949 to purchase 12 Olympus CX-23 microscopes, which will enhance teaching infrastructure in biological sciences courses. The compound microscopes will allow faculty to better educate students in microscopy, from introductory classes to graduate-level classes.

Combs Serves National Group as Secretary
Sandra L. Combs, associate professor of multimedia journalism production and Herald adviser, recently was sworn in as national secretary of the board of directors for the College Media Association. Combs, who joined A-State’s faculty in 2008, will serve a two-year term. The association, founded in 1954, works with advisers and students in campus print, broadcast, online and cable media programs across the nation.

Velázquez Makes Seminar Presentation
Dr. Gerardo Velázquez, assistant professor, mathematics and physics, Campus Queretaro, was an invited speaker for a Gravity and Mathematical Physics Seminar presented by the Centre for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (CINVESTAV). The seminar, “Exact Bigravity Waves,” is available on CINVESTAV social media. CINVESTAV is considered one of the top research centers in Mexico and Latin America.

McKay and Starkus are Article Co-Authors
Dr. Tanja McKay (right), professor of entomology and director, environmental sciences program, and Laura A. Starkus, former research associate in McKay’s lab, and others are co-authors of an article published in Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems. The article is titled “Long-Lasting Insecticide-Incorporated Netting and Interception Traps at Pilot-Scale Warehouses and Commercial Facilities Prevents Infestation by Stored Product Beetles.” It is available online.
