Hampton Selected for NACUBO Fellows Program
The National Association of College and University Business Officers has announced the latest class of its NACUBO Fellows Program. Brandy Hampton, treasurer at A-State, will be among the 13 individuals selected nationally for the intensive leadership development program. The Fellows will work together and with higher education leaders to enhance their management, communications and leadership skills and prepare for the complexities of the CBO role.

Fluker Lab continues research in the Ouachitas
Dr. Brook Fluker, associate professor of aquatic ecology, and Brittany McCall, environmental sciences PhD candidate, recently co-authored an article in Aquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems. The paper describes genetic variation and conservation implications for the paleback darter, a rare fish found only in the Ouachita Highlands of Arkansas. Fluker and McCall were also recently awarded a $92,065 grant from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to continue studies of rare fishes in the Ouachita Highlands.

Baker Co-Authors Education Journal Article
An article by Dr. Timberly L. Baker, associate professor of educational leadership, and colleague Dr. Joy Howard of Southern Indiana has been published in Taboo: The Journal of Culture and Education. The article discusses the authors’ co-teaching partnership with an African American history class at a local high school to do side-by-side learning with pre-service teachers and high school students to complete a unit of instruction on race.

Oliver and Labovitz Present at Multiple Conferences
Dr. Timothy Oliver, director of bands, and Dr. Sarah Labovitz, associate director of bands and coordinator of music education, have been invited to present a clinic on innovative music curriculum modifications developed by A-State faculty and students for the Midwest International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference in December. They have presented the clinic for the Arkansas Music Educators Association and more recently for the National Association for Music Education Eastern Division conference.
