Nalley Receives State Award for Achievement
Jo Ann Nalley, director of Childhood Services, is one of three individuals to be honored today by Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families during the organization’s annual awards luncheon in Little Rock. Nalley was recognized for her contributions and leadership in professional development for the state’s early childhood education practitioners. Her vision and commitment have enriched the lives of Arkansas’s children and families. She has served on A-State’s staff for 50 years.

Duyar Speaks at International Conference
Dr. Ibrahim Duyar, professor of educational leadership, delivered two paper presentations at the 2021 European Educational Research Conference (ECER), held online. Duyar led the paper presentation titled “Schools as Learning Organizations: Analysis of Teacher, Principal, and Environmental Predictors of Learning Organization in Successful and Failing Schools.” He also was a co-presenter of “Organizational Determinants of Teachers’ Job Engagement and Organizational Commitment: A Cross-National Study.”

Doering Article Examines Supreme Court Decision
Dr. James A. Doering, HCJ CPAs and Advisors/Louis and Ann Schaaf Endowed Professor of Accounting, published the lead article in the September issue of Taxes. In the article, Doering examines the Supreme Court’s decision in CIC Services LLC v. Internal Revenue Service that allows pre-enforcement judicial review of an IRS tax shelter reporting rule, and its impact on Anti-Injunction Act jurisprudence and federal tax administration.

Sokolov and Hossain Prep Conference Papers
Dr. Alexandr Sokolov (left), and Dr. Niamat Ullah Ibne Hossain (right), assistant professors of engineering management, co-authored an article for publication and presentation at The American Society of Engineering Management International annual conference. They applied Systems Modeling Language (SysML) to comprehend the architectural and behavioral aspects of the configuration level of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) in industry 4.0. Hossain authored two additional papers, Sokolov had one additional paper and a presentation, and they each chaired a session.

Scott’s Research is Published in Journal
Research by Dr. Sarah Scott, assistant professor of communication studies, has been published in the journal, Rhetoric and Public Affairs. Using the murder of Magdiel Sanchez as a case study, Scott and her co-author argue that rhetoric's future must embrace practices of situated listening to consider embodiment as a whole condition of rhetorical reception. The article, "Situated Listening: Toward a More Just Rhetorical Criticism" is online.
