Jeong Secures Third Utility Equipment Patent
Dr. Kwangkook (David) Jeong, professor of mechanical engineering, has secured his third U.S. patent related to power plant energy savings. The utility patent, “Air Cooled Condensing Heat Exchanger System (ACHX) with Acid Condensate Neutralizer,” specifies equipment that can be installed in a fossil-fuel power plant flue gas treatment system to recover water and low temperature waste heat from boiler flue gas for advanced coal-firing power plant applications.

Randle Presents at Medical Conference
Dr. Brenda Randle, director, Neighborhood Red Wolves Community Engagement Program in the Division of Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement, was a keynote presenter at the Focus on Health and Leadership for Women Conference, sponsored by the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Randle’s topic was “The Natural Hair Journey.” Due to the popularity of her presentation, she has already been invited back to the campus in 2022.

Williams Promotes Master’s Program in Qatar
Dr. Rob Williams, assistant professor of education, went to Doha, Qatar, to teach classes, promote A-State programs, and consult with local schools. The Department of Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Special Education has begun offering a master’s in educational leadership in a hybrid format. The Qatar students not only have asynchronous access to instructional materials, communication, and submitting assignments, they also gather in a classroom there as the A-State professor provides synchronous weekly instruction via Zoom.

Drake Addresses Tri-State Therapy Conference
Dr. Shawn Drake, professor of physical therapy and department chair, was a co-presenter at the recent American Physical Therapy Association Tri-State Conference in Memphis. She and her professional associates, Beth McKitrick-Bandy and Samantha Cavnagnaro, made their presentation on tri-planar assessment techniques for evaluating patients with idiopathic scoliosis, along with conservative treatment options for physical therapy patients with scoliosis.

Hossain and Sokolov to Edit Journal Issues
Dr. Niamat Hossain (left) and Dr. Alexandr Sokolov (right), assistant professors of engineering, will serve as editors for a special issue of the new journal Systems. Their issue topic is application of systems dynamics simulation and Systems Modeling Language. Systems is a venue for dissemination of research results in various areas of systems science. Hossain also has been appointed managing editor for a special issue of the International Journal of Management Science and Engineering Management.
