Bruce Co-Authors Work on Injury Prediction
An article by Dr. Scott Bruce, associate professor of athletic training, and assistant dean for research, has been published in Frontiers in Sports and Active Living. He and his co-author found that Division I football players with an inability to move equally to the right or left while accelerating or decelerating and with slowed reaction times were more likely to incur core and lower extremity injuries. Parker Presents Work on Assisting Educators
Leslie Moore Parker, assistant professor of graphic design, presented her paper “Equity and Socioeconomic Status in the Fine Art Classroom” at the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education conference. The paper addresses the gaps in knowledge that may result from a student’s lack of exposure to social and academic norms due to economic status, and how educators can help ensure their success.

Pan Elected Officer for Communication Group
Dr. Po-Lin Pan, professor of strategic communication, has been elected vice president and research chair of the Southwest Education Council for Journalism and Mass Communication (SWECJMC). An affiliate of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, SWECJMC promotes the recognition, welfare and progress of journalism and mass communication education in the Southwest U.S. Pan will be a program planner for the 2022 SWECJMC Symposium, then assume the presidency in 2023.

Duyar and Mentees Present Research Papers
Dr. Ibrahim Duyar, professor of educational leadership, and his research mentees delivered five papers at the recent World Educational Leadership Symposium. Duyar serves as a mentor to emerging scholars across the world through several national mentorship programs. Those presenting were Dr. Lloyd Jackson of the United States; Fatema AlAttar and Khuloud AlHammadi of United Arab Emirates, Dr. Ying Hu of China, and Dr. Ayhan Ozturk of Turkey.

Carvell Inducted by Military Veterans Hall of Fame
Congratulations to Richard Carvell, emeritus assistant professor of radio-television, on his induction by the Arkansas Military Veterans Hall of Fame. Carvell joined A-State’s faculty in 1971 following service as a U.S. Air Force captain. During his final year of active duty, he was in the 12th Reconnaissance Intelligence Technical Squadron at Tan Son Nhut Air Base in South Vietnam, where he earned a Bronze Star for meritorious service.
