Salo is Co-Author of War Logistics Study
Dr. Edward Salo, associate professor of history, was part of a team of civilian and military logistics professionals whose work was published by the Modern War Institute at West Point. Working with the 2022 student cohort from the Advanced Studies of Air Mobility program at the Air Force Institute of Technology, the team modeled and simulated four Russian military scenarios and their logistics requirements. Results can inform logistics strategies.

NSF Invites Izadyar to be Project Reviewer
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has asked Dr. Anahita Izadyar, associate professor of chemistry, to serve as a reviewer for its Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) in 2023. NSF reviewers use their experience and knowledge to provide helpful advice to NSF program officers on specific grant proposals and to offer constructive comments to grant applicants. Izadyar will review projects involving chemical catalysis and several related fields.

Pan and Bhandari Study Consumer Attitudes
Dr. Po-Lin Pan (left), professor, and Dr. Manu Bhandari (right), associate professor, strategic communication, are co-authors of an article published in Health Education Journal. Their study aims to explore how consumers’ attitudes towards health and nutrition-related claims in food advertisements affected their healthy food choice and how online searching for nutrition information about food products mediated the impact of obesity knowledge on healthy food choice.

Bruce Presents at International Conference
Dr. Scott Bruce, associate professor of athletic training, presented a research poster at the International Consensus Conference on Concussion in Sport Administration in the Netherlands. Because of underreporting of sports-related concussions and symptoms, Bruce created a clinical prediction model, using two different college football teams, to help identify those with a concussion history or susceptibility to concussion. The abstract will be published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.

Sullivan Defends Ph.D. Study in Performing Arts
Congratulations to Dr. Kristen Sullivan, collaborative voice instructor in music and theatre, who successfully defended her Ph.D. study, “Semi-Occluded Vocal Tract Exercises: Understanding the Prevalence and Purposes of Use within the Collegiate Voice Instructor Population.” This Ph.D. program that focuses on performing arts health at the University of North Texas is the only degree of its kind in the country.
