Journal Appoints Lorence as Associate Editor
Dr. Argelia Lorence, James and Wanda Lee Vaughn Endowed Professor, lead of A-State Phenomics Core, and professor of metabolic engineering, has been appointed to a three-year term as associate editor of The Plant Phenome Journal. The peer-reviewed open-access journal publishes original research, interpretations and datasets investigating all aspects of plant phenomics. These approaches are key to developing crops able to thrive under challenging environmental conditions.

Nagpal Presents and Moderates ESG Panel
Dr. Pankaj Nagpal, assistant professor of information systems and business analytics, presented and moderated a panel at a national conference on sustainability, ESG (environmental, social and governance) and accounting, held in Washington, D.C. Nagpal spoke about the role of information technology and information systems in ESG. Senior industry professionals and academics presented their views and participated in the conference and the panel, which attracted more than 100 people.

Stubblefield, Hays, Pait and Richmond Present Work with AI
A research team including Dr. Jonathan Stubblefield, assistant professor of bioinformatics technology, Allen Hays, instructor in teacher education, Arianne Pait, assistant professor of communication disorders, and student researcher Eli Richmond presented their work at the International Society of Information Technology in Education (SITE) annual convention in New Orleans. The team, which includes six other individuals at A-State, presented their findings to date regarding their work in using artificial intelligence to create an optimal font for those with dyslexia. Their paper is also online.

Wilson-Buford is Consultant for Network Program
Dr. Kellie Wilson-Buford, associate professor of history and interim chair, Sociology and Criminology, was a consultant for an ongoing CBS investigative series about LGBTQ military veterans dishonorably discharged under the “don't ask, don't tell" policy. Wilson-Buford's research on the U.S. military justice system's use of the Uniform Code of Military Justice's Articles 125 and 134 to court-martial and discharge suspected homosexuals from 1950-2000 provides critical historical context for the series.

Nutt Appointed to Journal Review Board
Jody Nutt, assistant professor of medical imaging and radiation sciences, has been appointed to a three-year term on the editorial review board of the national Radiation Therapist journal. The board promotes and supports scholarly inquiry and dissemination of information that contributes to the body of knowledge in medical imaging and radiation therapy. This semiannual scholarly journal includes peer-reviewed research and helpful columns on radiation therapy practice.
