Ten Individuals Added to Staff Wall of Honor
Continuing a tradition that began with A-State’s Centennial Celebration in 2010, the Staff Senate added the names of 10 individuals to the Staff Centennial Wall of Honor and recognized the recipients during the Distinguished Performance Awards and Service Recognition Ceremony. Those honored are Norma Bell*, Sandra Bramblett, Glenn Broadway*, Adrian Everett, Heath Kelly, Mary Melton, Rebecca Oliver, Kelly Ponder, Dr. Jill Simons and Marilyn Wilhide. Torres Defends Doctoral Dissertation
Dr. Henry Torres, vice president of information technology and chief information officer, ASU System, recently defended his doctoral dissertation at Kennesaw State University, where he earned a Ph.D. in business administration with an emphasis in information systems security training. A member of the A-State staff since 2002, Torres also teaches as an adjunct for the Griffin College of Business and online for system member Henderson State.

Total of 25 Staff Members Mark 10 Years of Service at A-State
A total of 25 staff members at A-State received certificates recognizing their 10 years of service at A-State, joining others recognized during the Distinguished Performance and Service Recognition Ceremony. They are Luna Acosta, Lauren Adams, Kenneth Anderson, Kimberly Benson, Elizabeth Billingsley, Jessica Blackburn, Bradley Bobo, Charlotte Booker, Eric Coleman, Adrian Everett, Karan Gilliland, Brittany Harris, Charles Trey Hicks, Amy Holt, Erika James, Kendal Lute, Daniel Matthews, Gisella Moody, Angela Morrison, Prathima Pattada, Shaquita Renelique, Dr. William Smith, Rhonda Tucker, Linda Walters and Dr. Wayne Wilkinson.

Smith is May PROPS Award Winner
Mike Smith, assistant director, Procurement Services, has been recognized by Staff Senate as the May recipient of the PROPS (Proudly Recognizing Our Pack Staff) Award. Those who nominated Smith emphasized his willingness to step up and demonstrate leadership skills, his helpfulness and patience with fellow staff members, and his trustworthiness noted by contacts across campus. Carroll Taught Jazz Performance and History
Dr. Kenneth Carroll, associate professor of music, was recognized during Faculty Honors Convocation for his retirement after 20 years of service at A-State. As director of jazz studies in the Department of Music, he taught jazz and saxophone performance, along with classes on the history of jazz. Carroll directed two traditional jazz bands and small jazz ensembles. A graduate of Arkansas Tech, he earned master’s and doctoral degrees at Georgia.
