Dolan Receives Established Investigator Award Dolan Receives Established Investigator Award

Congratulations to Dr. Maureen Dolan, associate professor of molecular biology, who was named Arkansas Biosciences Institute “Established Investigator of the Year,” as announced by Dr. Bobby McGehee, ABI executive director. Dolan also presented the A-State featured ABI lecture with R. Shea Harris, ABI outreach coordinator, at the annual ABI Symposium. Dolan’s research with students in connection with the NASA SPOCS project is featured on the cover of the ABI 2022 Annual Report.

 
Salo Appointed to Two Research Fellowships

Dr. Ed Salo, associate professor of history, has received two prestigious appointments for conducting specialized military research. The Modern War Institute at West Point selected Salo as one of 11 research fellows for its 2023–24 class. In addition, the Joint Special Operations University (JSOU) at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla., has appointed him to serve as a non-resident research fellow. Details are online.

Blackburn Promoted, Will Oversee Major Gifts Blackburn Promoted, Will Oversee Major Gifts

Jessica Blackburn, senior director of development, has been promoted to assistant vice chancellor for University Advancement. She will continue to oversee all major gift fundraising for academics and provide oversight for annual giving programs. Blackburn also will assist with the launch of the Women’s Leadership Collaborative, working with other faculty and staff. A university staff member since 2014, she earned a Master of Public Administration degree at A-State.

 
Parker to Lead Panel at International Conference

Leslie Parker, assistant professor of graphic design, will lead a panel discussion at the AIGA Design Conference this week in New York City. The panel, which is titled "Forging their Path: Stories from Designers with Rural Roots," will explore the various experiences of graphic designers from rural backgrounds, focusing on accessibility and bias in design. AIGA is the preeminent international organization for graphic designers.

Schloemer and Mello Co-Author Case Study Schloemer and Mello Co-Author Case Study

A case study authored by Dr. Hilary Schloemer (left), associate professor of management, and Dr. John Mello (right), professor of supply chain management, has been accepted for publication by Sage Publishing. This pedagogical case helps students to understand how cultures, climates and subcultures interrelate, and how they can impact employees and organizations. The study encourages students to adopt a strategic, realistic view of social psychological challenges in employee management.
