Dr. Amanda Carpenter, assistant professor of public health, and program director, was accepted to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Center for Scientific Review's Early Career Reviewer program. As part of this role, Carpenter will serve on review panels responsible for judging the scientific merit of NIH grant proposals. Requirements for acceptance to the program included an active and independent research agenda supported by publications, presentations and grants.

Dr. Russ Hannah, chief financial officer, has written a chapter in the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) College and University Business Administration Series. Known as the core-reference manual for higher education administrators, College and University Business Administration, covers all phases of higher education management. Hannah’s chapter helps chief business officers recognize the leading attributes and areas of focus for their complex and multi-faceted role on campus.

Dr. Carlitta Moore, assistant professor of athletic training, is one of 12 new members appointed to the board of directors for Head to Speech Inc. This is the first nonprofit group to focus on pre-head injury education and the impact that post-concussion syndrome has on current and former college and professional athletes' speech-language, hearing, and cognitive-communication outcomes. The group’s annual task force summit and expo is in March.

Dr. Saúl Alfonso Esparza-Rodriguez, professor of strategy and business administration, Campus Querétaro, participated as a special guest in the presentation of the second evaluation of the municipal development plans carried out by the Citizen Observatory of Querétaro, a civil organization. Campus Querétaro will enter a collaboration agreement for evaluating compliance in the management of some municipalities in the State of Querétaro. CQ students will participate in associated activities.

Dr. Michael Dougan, emeritus professor of history, addressed the recent Grain Elevator and Processors Society (GEAPS) meeting in Stuttgart. Dougan often speaks to agricultural professionals on industry-relevant historical topics, such as this one, “Whither the Weather.” He has discussed the history of rice, peanuts and other Arkansas food topics. Sometimes called the peanut historian of Arkansas, Dougan is finalizing an entry on that topic for the Encyclopedia of Arkansas.
