Dr. Timberly Baker, associate professor of educational leadership, has been recognized by EdChoice, a non-profit group that advocates for families and their freedom to make choices for their children’s education. A feature about Baker on the group’s website references her recent publication on the experiences of the Black homeschooling community in rural areas. Fears Presents on Interdisciplinary Teaching
Dr. Lillie M. Fears, professor of media, conducted workshops on interdisciplinary teaching during the NEH Workshop, A Sense of Place: Architecture, Culture and History in the Arkansas Delta. She used Japanese Internment in the Arkansas Delta and World War II as subject matter. The workshop, in McGehee, attracted K-12 educators from multiple states to learn about important characteristics of the Arkansas Delta with architecture as a focus.

Bowman to be Honored at Retirement Event
Dr. Michael Bowman, associate professor of media, has concluded a 28-year career at A-State. In addition to his years teaching in the School of Media and Journalism, he has worn several hats including distance learning technical coordinator, director of distance learning, interim dean of regional program and continuing education, interim director of Fowler Center, and interim assistant dean of Liberal Arts and Communication. A reception in his honor is Friday.

Moore Serves as Panelist at Symposia
Dr. Carlitta M. Moore, associate professor of athletic training and vice chancellor for access and institutional engagement, was a panelist at the National Athletic Trainers Association Clinical Symposia and Expo. Representing a variety of professions, the panelists offered students and other participants their advice for navigating and persevering through the early years of the profession, while not losing sight of their identity and values.

Dancer has Article on Tax Cuts and Jobs Act
An article by Dr. W. Terry Dancer, professor of accounting, has been published in the Journal of Applied Business and Economics. The article, “The Trump Tax Penalty and its Impact on the Economy,” explains the increase in federal taxes, on older married couples who are supported by Social Security and a modest pension, that resulted from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.
