Harmon Presents at National Conference

Dr. Matthew Harmon, assistant professor of nursing, made a presentation at the American Psychiatric Nurses Association national conference in Louisville. During his session, “Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity: Acquitee Perspecticea on Environmental Determinants of Conditional Release Success,” Harmon covered several environmental factors that may act as facilitators, or as barriers, to completion of conditional release programs.

Nagpal Presents Paper on AI and Data Management Nagpal Presents Paper on AI and Data Management

Dr. Pankaj Nagpal, assistant professor of information systems and business analytics, co-authored a paper and abstract that he presented at the International Association for Computer Information Systems (IACIS) annual conference. Nagpal also is the corresponding author for the paper, “Deep Learning Based Simulation for New Product Demand Estimation.” Published in IACIS’s Issues in Information Systems, the abstract relates to artificial intelligence and data management.

 
Scarbrough is Latest PROPS Award Recipient

Congratulations to Marty Scarbrough, program director at KASU radio, who was selected by a Staff Senate committee as the most recent recipient of the PROPS (Proudly Recognizing Our Pack Staff) Award. More information about Scarbrough, who joined the A-State staff in 1992, and why he won the recognition is online. PROPS winners are selected from a pool of candidates created from nomination forms.

Rolland and Trusty Identify Bluebird Protection Rolland and Trusty Identify Bluebird Protection

A research paper by Dr. Virginie Rolland, professor of quantitative wildlife ecology, and former undergraduate student Michael Trusty has been published in Southeastern Naturalist. In the article, they concluded that lithium grease is an effective way to keep predators away from bluebird nests. Their conclusion was based on data from activity in 148 nest boxes they monitored around Jonesboro.

 
Dougan Looks at His 50 Years in Jonesboro

Dr. Michael Dougan, emeritus professor of history, made a presentation to the Craighead County Historical Society last week about his more than 50 years in Jonesboro, highlighting several significant community developments during that period. Dougan received a citation from the society president, recognizing him for his five decades of membership and making him a lifetime member. Dougan joined the Department of History faculty in 1970.
