Hays is Leading BRIDGE Outreach Program
Allen Hays, director, Delta STEM Education Center, is coordinating a program for eighth-grade STEM and multimedia students from Nettleton Junior High LEADS Academy. The BRIDGE (Building Real-world Innovation and Development through Guidance and Education) Integrated Enrichment Program brings two groups of students to the A-State campus, every Monday and Wednesday, through the end of April. His work with BRIDGE was featured in a Jonesboro Right Now article.

Singletons Present at International Conference
Dr. Jacques Singleton (right), professor of educational leadership, and Dr. Topeka Singleton (left), assistant professor of educational leadership, recently presented at the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences & Education (AHSE) International Conference in Honolulu. In “The Efficacy of Using Comprehensive Exams in a Large-Scale Online Doctoral Program,” they provided insights into the role of comprehensive exams in assessing doctoral candidates' knowledge and preparedness in an online academic environment.

Nesbitt, Gaines and Rice-Mason are ‘Living Legends’
Congratulations to Dr. Nikesha Nesbitt, dean, University College, along with Dr. Wilbert Gaines, emeritus professor of physical education, and Dr. Jenifer Rice-Mason, former director, Access and Accommodation Services at A-State. These three, along with four other individuals, will be honored Saturday evening during the seventh annual Living Legends Awards celebration, a Black History Month event. The award recipients will be saluted for the ways they have enriched the community, excelled in their fields, and inspired younger generations. Details are online.

Greenwalt is Agribusiness Person of the Year
Dr. Bert Greenwalt, professor of agricultural economics, was recognized last week by the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce. Greenwalt, who directed the 31st annual Agribusiness Conference at A-State earlier this month, received the 2025 Agribusiness Person of the Year Award. He was joined at the ceremony by fellow alumnus Gary Sitzer, 2025 Farmer of the Year and former classmate, and four members of the A-State Agribusiness Club.

Johnson and Rolland Mentor Grad Researcher
Dr. Ron Johnson (left), professor of zoology, and Dr. Virginie Rolland (right), professor of quantitative wildlife ecology, are mentors of graduate student Monica Reusche and co-authors of a paper, in Southeastern Naturalist, providing an update on the distribution of the Ozark pocket gopher, a subspecies that occurs only in Izard County. Among the results of their grant-funded study, the state Game and Fish Commission is considering ways to protect existing populations and possibly create new ones through translocation of some individuals.
