Group Works on Veterans' Suicide Prevention
The Veterans’ Suicide Prevention Project is an interdisciplinary group of 16 individuals in the College of Nursing and Health Professions who are exploring the causes of mental health issues and suicide ideation in military veterans. Their study was published in a special issue of Brain Sciences. Dr. Scott Bruce, assistant dean for research, chairs the group; others involved are Michael R. Cooper, Carly Farmer, Dr. Audrey Folsom, Melanie Fulton, Jana Haskins, Dr. Cheryl Knight, Dr. Carlitta M. Moore, Dr. Amy Shollenbarger, Rashele Wade, Dr. Stacy Walz, Rachel Wilkins, Rebbecca Wellborn, Eric West and Kendall Youngman. Details are online.

Regn Studies Ecotoxicology Lab Lighting
Orithea Z. Regn, research associate, Ecotoxicology Facility, is corresponding author and Dr. Jennifer Bouldin, dean, Beck Sciences and Mathematics, is a co-author of an article in Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry. They compared how different species of organisms that are used in toxicity testing, such as fathead minnows and zooplankton, respond to being cultured and tested under various types of lighting and lab conditions. The research was necessitated by the global transition to LED lighting.

McDaniel is Latest PROPS Award Recipient
A faculty member nominated Sharon McDaniel, records management supervisor, Registrar's Office, for the Proudly Recognizing our Pack Staff (PROPS) Award, which is selected by a subcommittee of Staff Senate. McDaniel is the latest recipient of the award, given in recognition of her work on behalf of the students who are transferring to A-State. Read more about McDaniel online. Del Rio Assists Querétaro with Attaining PGI
Dr. María de la Soledad del Río, professor of physics and mathematics, Campus Querétaro, has played a significant role in assisting the Wine Cluster of Querétaro to attain a protected geographical indication (PGI) for wines in the Querétaro region. Over a period of years, she has analyzed data from satellites, weather stations, and public records regarding characteristics of the vineyards in Querétaro, resulting in numerous publications and international presentations.

Leslie Provides Credit Card Approval Tips
Comments by Dr. H. Steve Leslie, associate professor of business communication and director of internships, are featured in a recent WalltetHub article regarding best practices in applying for and managing credit cards. Leslie offered several tips for improving one’s chances of getting approved for a credit card, and suggested several steps to take once approved to help ensure good personal financial management practices.
