Tunno and Ruiz Propose New Statistical Test
An article by Dr. Ferebee Tunno, associate professor of statistics, has been published in Involve: A Journal of Mathematics, which specializes in research collaborations with undergraduate students. Tunno's undergraduate co-author was Javier Ruiz, who graduated from A-State in December 2023 with a double major in business and mathematics. The article proposes a new way to test for differences in conditional volatility structures between independent, stationary GARCH statistical processes.

West Presents at National Quality Symposium
Eric West, assistant professor of nutrition and dietetics, gave two presentations during the Quality Symposium: Transforming Nutrition and Dietetics through Quality Improvement. The inaugural conference, held virtually, was organized by the Commission on Dietetics Registration. West presented on driving change with quality improvement across care settings, then served on an expert panel. He gave the closing presentation on change management in interdisciplinary teams.

Gipson and Singleton Write Journal Article
Dr. Tiffany Gipson (left), adjunct instructor in educational leadership, and principal, eStem Freshman Academy in Little Rock, is lead author and Dr. Topeka Small Singleton (right), assistant professor of educational leadership, is co-author of an article published in the Journal of the Arkansas Association of Teacher Educators (ArATE). Their research featured a qualitative study on African American male students’ perceptions of mattering and marginality in high school. The article is online.

Stripling Writes on Higher Ed Accountability
A chapter by Dr. Rick Stripling, associate professor of educational leadership and program director, was selected for publication in a book just published through IGI Global. The chapter is on “Funding Trends in Higher Education that Have Significant Impact on Accountability.” Stripling analyzes the developments that have intensified pressures on funding streams for public higher education. The book is titled Accountability in Higher Education: Navigating Current Issues and Trends.

Hansen Presents on Heritage Sites, Studies
Dr. Gregory Hansen, professor of folklore and English, gave an invited talk at the Illinois Humanities conference in Cairo. Hansen presented "Heritage Sites and Heritage Studies at Arkansas State University" during the opening plenary session for the event, titled " 'Confluences': The Intersection of Thought, Arts, Education and Ideas." Hansen also teaches courses in the Ph.D. program in heritage studies at A-State.
