Edwards’ Study of Civil War Soldier to be Published

An article by Dr. Gary Edwards, associate professor of history, has been selected for publication in the June issue of Civil War History, the leading scholarly journal of the American Civil War era. In “One Soldier in Two Armies . . .,” Edwards analyzes the memoir of a soldier who served in both the Confederate and Union armies. Edwards, the first historian to use this memoir in a scholarly study, is working with three additional soldiers’ memoirs to shape all four into a book.

Hill Presents Communication Study Hill Presents Communication Study

Dr. Myleea Hill (left), professor of strategic communication, recently presented a paper at the Agricultural History Society annual meeting in St. Paul, Minn. The interdisciplinary study, which she co-authored with Catherine Bahn (right), adjunct instructor of strategic communication, examined communication framing of the designation of a 44.4-mile section of the Eleven Point River in southern Missouri in the original federal Wild and Scenic Rivers Act of 1968.

 
Aryal is Selected for Catalyze Fellowship

The Mid-America Arts Alliance has selected Dr. Khem Aryal, associate professor of English, as one of 25 Arkansans to receive a $10,000 practice-based fellowship through its Catalyze program. The award, which is determined through a competitive application process, will support his work on his novel in progress and his short stories. Aryal’s recent fiction explores complexities of displacement, longing and belonging, with a focus on cross-cultural experiences.

Naderi Appointed Associate Editor of Journal Naderi Appointed Associate Editor of Journal

Dr. Ehsan Naderi, assistant professor of electrical engineering and interim program director, has been appointed associate editor of Evolutionary Intelligence, a peer-reviewed journal published by Springer Nature that publishes research on nature-inspired problem-solving techniques. Naderi will help guide the journal’s editorial vision and ensure the dissemination of high-quality, impactful research that drives innovation in the field. The appointment highlights Naderi’s contributions in computational intelligence, evolutionary computation, and machine learning.

 
Jagriti Selected for 20 in Their Twenties

Congratulations to J. Jagriti, higher education program coordinator, A-State Graduate School, on her selection as a 2025 honoree in the 20 in their Twenties program conducted by Arkansas Business. With a Master of Business Administration in marketing, Jagriti was recognized was among the 20 individuals chosen statewide based on their achievements and potential in their employment and in the community where they live.
