MISSION
Arkansas State University’s Office of Multicultural Affairs works to create a welcoming and inclusive campus environment by providing programming that promotes an appreciation for diversity, multiculturalism, and social justice. We are committed to affirming the overall experiences of our students, and serving as a support system and resource for the concerns and needs of students from marginalized and/or underrepresented identity groups.

History of Multicultural Affairs
2008
In 2008, Ryan Beaird, Student Government Association (SGA) president and Anna Callaway, a member of SGA, presented a resolution to re-allocate the soon to be vacated Fitness Club space in the Student Union. The vacated space would be used for a Multicultural Center, Non-Traditional Student Lounge, Computer Lab, and meeting room space. (The new Red W.O.L.F. Center would replace the services the Fitness Club provided).
2010
The Multicultural Center at Arkansas State University was established in 2010. In August of 2010, Kimberly Johnson, coordinator of multicultural affairs, moved into the new space designated for the Multicultural Center located on the third floor, suite 3003 of the Carl R. Reng Student Union. At this time, the Multicultural Center remained under the leadership of the Student Leadership Office.
2011
In August 2011, Niya Blair became the second director of the Multicultural Center.
2013
In August of 2013, the center was established as a stand-alone department reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
2015

In May of 2017, Dr. Evette Allen became the fourth director of the Multicultural Center.
The Multicultural Center continues to serve as an integral part of campus life as a place that offers and supports multicultural awareness and learning through programs and initiatives that increase understanding and appreciation of differences.
2019
The Multicultural Center became the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and Dr. Evette Allen began her role as the Executive Director of Multicultural Affairs and Inclusive Excellence. Services were extended to encompass programs for women and gender initiatives, military and veteran students, and the many services already provided. Department staff include Mr. Joshua Smith (Assistant Director), Ms. Rachel Hendrix (Coordinator/Office Manager), Ms. Shanita Hicks (Graduate Assistant), and Mr. Taron Robinson (Graduate Assistant).
2020
The Multicultural Center continues its mission goals with Dr. Evette Allen Moore as Executive Director. Service programs remain for women and gender initiatives, military, and veteran students in addition to the many services already provided. Staff includes Joshua Smith (Assistant Director), Jimmy Bumper (Coordinator/Office Manager), Sydney Washington (Graduate Assistant), and Thashaina Seraus (Women and Gender Coordinator).
