Committed to Privacy
Arkansas State University (A-State) is committed to the privacy and protection of information collected by the use of our computing system resources, subject to the provisions of state and federal law.
A-State collects and maintains electronic information and files from users on a voluntary basis. These files are collected and maintained to facilitate the processing of student, employee, and alumni records. All record keeping is done in strict compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34cfr part 99). All A-State employees, staff, and students should consider the use of electronic media as being subject to disclosure. There is no expectation of privacy in electronic data that is retained by Arkansas State unless said data is specifically protected by federal or state regulations. Arkansas Freedom of Information Act
As a public institution of higher education, public records maintained by A-State are subject to production under the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) (Ark. Code Ann. § 25-19-101) unless specifically exempted by applicable law or regulation.
Official University Websites
Except as noted, the information in this privacy statement applies to all official Arkansas State University websites which operate under the direction of the Division of Communications and Marketing, comply with the official university template, style guide, graphics and web standards, and are administered within the A-State content management system for the institution’s main campus location in Jonesboro. Certain official websites may have their own or supplementary privacy policies appropriate to their function or as required by law. Web presences managed by remote campus locations such as Campus Queretaro will have separate standards. In addition, there are various websites within the AState.edu domain that are not maintained by the university. Other affiliated university websites may include RSO sites, club sport groups, SGA, SAB, personal websites of faculty, staff or students. This privacy statement only applies to official university websites.

Websites hosted on the university content management system collect the following analytics on our users as part of our standard business procedures.

- web pages requested
- referring web page
- browser used
- date and time of session
A-State does not associate this data to specific user identities.
Cookies
Sites hosted on AState.edu may use “cookies" in order to deliver content specific to individual interests, preferences, or user-submitted answers to on-screen questions. Sensitive personal information is not stored in this data.
Online Forms
A-State uses online forms on this site. These forms require users to provide contact information such as name, address, email, phone number, etc. The information collected by these forms are used only for the purpose for which it was collected and will never be sold to another party.
Responsibility for External Sites
AState.edu may contain links to third-party websites. The links are provided for your convenience, but the university does not review, control, or monitor the privacy practices of these websites. We recommend that you review each website's privacy practices and make your own conclusions regarding their data protection procedures.
