Welcome to Arkansas State University!

Mission and Values

The mission of the Arkansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine (A-State CVM) Office of Student Programs and Admissions and the Admissions Committee is to recruit and admit DVM candidates that will serve the animal and public health needs of local, state, regional, and national communities.

We seek candidates who demonstrate:

  • broad knowledge of and dedication to the veterinary profession
  • academic excellence
  • a commitment to lifelong learning
  • the values of Arkansas State University (student-centered, learning-centered, excellence, diversity, service and integrity)

How to Apply

Contingent upon successful completion of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Council on Education’s accreditation process, Arkansas State University CVM plans to admit its first class in Fall 2026.

The Veterinary Medical Common Application Service (VMCAS) is the primary application service for all veterinary schools nationwide. Familiarize yourself with the content and deadlines provided on their website as this will be the main application service used by A-State’s CVM. Please note that due to the accreditation timeline, we anticipate we will be using Slate via the A-State admissions portal for admissions applications in the 2025 admissions cycle (for students admitted for Fall, 2026).

Supplemental Application

In addition to Veterinary Medical Common Application Service (VMCAS), applicants will submit a supplemental application to A-State’s College of Veterinary Medicine providing the opportunity for the applicant to express relevant background information and qualifications that are not included in the VMCAS application. There is no fee for this application.

Requirements for Admission
