A-State Access on iPhone and Apple Watch Arrives at A-State
JONESBORO – Arkansas State University today begins offering A-State Access cards on iPhone and Apple Watch as a major new convenience on campus.
Students, faculty and staff will have the option to add their A-State Access card to Apple Wallet and use their iPhone or Apple Watch to access their meal plan and flex dollars, get into buildings and facilities, use the laundry machines, and use their express dollars.
A-State will officially launch the Mobile Credential project for the campus community beginning with the fall term. Beginning with “Move-In Weekend” this week, everyone at A-State will be able to use their student ID on their iPhone or Apple Watch anywhere on campus where they have been using a plastic card. A-State will continue to offer the physical A-State Access Card to its campus community.
"We are very excited to introduce the Mobile Credential project. Having your A-State Access Card on iPhone and Apple Watch will be more convenient for our community," said Sheryl Puckett, director of card services at A-State. "No more trying to find your physical card to use at door readers, Sodexo Dining areas and anywhere else one would use their plastic card. We have all lost our cards at one time or another, but we are less likely to lose our smartphones or smartwatches. By the beginning of the fall term, everywhere that a physical card is used will have the technology to accept the Mobile Credential."
A-State is the first Arkansas institution and among the first in the country to launch contactless student IDs in the Apple Wallet. Others among the first 10 are University of Alabama, Duke University, University of Oklahoma, Temple University, Johns Hopkins University, Mercer University, and Marshall University.
A-State Access Mobile will be available through the Apple Wallet and works with iPhone 6 and later and Apple Watch Series 1 and later.
This convenient new technology also provides greater security for those who may lose a plastic card. Contactless student IDs also require multifactor authentication to keep the card information secure.
