A-State Awarded NACEP Re-Accreditation
JONESBORO – The Accreditation Commission of the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) announced Monday that Arkansas State University has been awarded full re-accreditation for its concurrent enrollment program.
NACEP is a professional organization for high schools and colleges that fosters and supports concurrent classes, which are university courses taught face-to-face in high schools. Arkansas State currently partners with 11 area high schools in concurrent enrollment classes.
"I'm very pleased to recognize the concurrent enrollment program at Arkansas State University as one of a select group of 105 concurrent enrollment partnerships nationwide accredited through NACEP's extensive peer-review process. Arkansas State has once again demonstrated to its peers that the college courses it offers in high schools are of the same high quality as college courses offered on campus,” said Victoria Zeppelin of Tompkins Cortland Community College, and chair of the NACEP Accreditation Commission.
The A-State concurrent enrollment program offers qualified students from these high schools the opportunity to satisfy both high school and university credit requirements simultaneously. NACEP accreditation ensures that these college courses taught by high school teachers are as rigorous as courses offered on the A-State campus.
“I am very pleased that our Arkansas State concurrent program received re-accreditation,” said Dr. Barbara Doyle, A-State director of K-20 initiatives. “It helps us prove that we are keeping the content and the rigor at the high schools who offer our classes at the highest level possible.
“Of course, re-accreditation could not occur without the work of so many people behind the scenes,” added Doyle. “I am so thankful to my staff and our faculty liaisons for the work that they did to help us get this accomplished. I think that this is a wonderful indication that Arkansas State is providing a quality program, and I look forward to moving the program to even greater heights in the future.”
High schools with which A-State partners in its concurrent program include Barton-Lexa, Cedar Ridge, Corning, Greene County Tech, Jonesboro, Marmaduke, Nettleton, Paragould, Rector, Valley View, White County Central and NEA Christian Home Educators home school association.
