A-State Choir Members to Deliver Singing Valentines
JONESBORO – Quartets from the Arkansas State University Concert Choir will deliver Singing Valentines on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13-14, to patrons within a 25-mile radius of Jonesboro.
Dr. Dale Miller, director of choral activities, announced that patrons may select from the following songs: “Let Me Call You Sweetheart,” “I Can’t Give You Anything but Love,” “In the Still of the Night,” “All My Lovin’,” “Love Me Tender,” “Let Me Call You Sweetheart,” “Hello, Mary Lou,” and “When I Fall in Love.”
This annual fundraising event helps to support A-State Choirs’ travel tours and provides opportunities for the choral students to attend state, regional, and national music professional conferences.
“The Arkansas State University College of Fine Arts recognizes the educational value of travel for our students. These tours provide the opportunity to better understand people and their cultures by studying their history through music, art, and architecture, and performing with their students.” commented Dr. Dale Miller, director of choral activities at A-State.
Personnel for the Singing Valentines include members of the Concert Choir. Sopranos are Dennese Adkins of Cabot, Megan Carter of Gosnell, and Hannah Hester of Grand Prairie, Texas. Altos are Lizzie Bailey of Searcy, Victoria Dryer of Jonesboro, Morgan Langley of White Hall, Loren Snook of Bradford, and Vanessa Partida and Anna Webb, both of Harrisburg.
Tenors are Kane Bradley of Russellville, Cor’Darius Brown and Jerion Smith, both of Wynne, Frank Natera of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Jeffrey Steward of Oil Trough. Basses and baritones are Aaron Fisher of Memphis, Lane Grant of Highland, C. J. Hoover of Bono, London Johnston of Little Rock, Hal Niederbrach of Searcy, and Drew Warren of Manila.
Singing Valentines must be ordered in advance by Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 5 p.m., and will be $25. Additional songs may be performed for $15 each. The Valentine songs will be delivered with a card and a carnation, and may be purchased from any participating A-State choir member.
