A-State Football Announces Full 2023 Schedule
JONESBORO – The Arkansas State football team has announced its complete 2023 schedule, which features six Saturday home games and three-consecutive outings at Centennial Bank Stadium following its season opener Sept. 2 at Oklahoma.
The Red Wolves will begin their third season under head coach Butch Jones with a third all-time meeting against the Sooners, but then play three-straight home games in the month of September for the first time in school history.
A-State will play at Centennial Bank Stadium on Sept. 9 against Memphis before hosting Stony Brook a week later and Southern Miss on Sept. 23 in its Sun Belt Conference opener. The home stand marks the first time since 2012, and just the sixth time in school history, that the Red Wolves will play at least three games in Jonesboro during the month of September.
The week leading up to A-State’s home opener versus the Tigers, which will be the 62nd all-time meeting between the two schools, will feature the annual “Paint the Town Red” traditions, and fans are encouraged to wear red to the game.
Playing three non-conference games to begin the year, A-State and Stony Brook will meet for the time ever. The Red Wolves will play their Sun Belt Conference opener at home for the first time since 2016, and the outing against the Golden Eagles will also include a Band Day theme.
Arkansas State will play its final regular-season non-conference game the next Saturday, Sept. 30, when it travels to Amherst to face UMass, wrapping up a two-year home-and-home series.
The Red Wolves resume league action Oct. 7 at defending Sun Belt Conference champion Troy, one of eight teams on A-State’s schedule that participated in a bowl game last season.
A-State has an open week before alternating home and road contests over its last six regular-season outings. The stretch that starts with its Homecoming game Oct. 21 against Coastal Carolina, giving the Red Wolves’ back-to-back games against the two teams that played in last year’s Sun Belt title game. The Chanticleers are one of two SBC East Division opponents on the Red Wolves’ schedule.
Wrapping up the month of October, A-State plays at ULM on Oct. 28. The Red Wolves hold a current 13-game winning streak against the Warhawks, which is the longest versus any opponent in school history.
A-State will be back in Jonesboro Nov. 4 to host Louisiana for its Ag Day game, and then plays South Alabama on Nov. 11 in Mobile.
Playing their home finale the following Saturday on Nov. 18, the Red Wolves will host Texas State on their Senior Day and Fan Appreciation Day before closing out the regular season Nov. 25 at SBC East Division-member Marshall.
In addition to Paint the Town Red, Band Day, Homecoming, Senior Day and Fan Appreciation Day, A-State will announce other game themes, special events and promotions surrounding the Red Wolves’ six home games.
