A-State Football to Hold Revamped Recruiting Round-Up Feb. 6; Championship Celebration Planned as Part of Activities
JONESBORO, Ark. — The annual Arkansas State Recruiting Round-Up will be held in the Convocation Center on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 5:30 p.m., but has been revamped this year to include a championship celebration honoring A-State’s run to the Sun Belt Conference title and conclusion to its remarkable 2012 season with a victory over 25th-ranked Kent State in the GoDaddy.com Bowl.
The doors to the Convocation Center will open at 5 p.m., when an autograph session with current members of the Arkansas State football team is slated to kick off the event. There is no charge for admission, and the arena’s concession stands will be open for fans to purchase drinks and food.
The championship celebration will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the arena floor, at which time City of Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin will issue a proclamation honoring the team and A-State’s All-Sun Belt Conference awards will be presented. The 2012 Sun Belt Conference and 2013 GoDaddy.com Bowl trophies will also be on display.
The Recruiting Round-Up will immediately follow the celebration and both are now set to include a live radio broadcast on EAB’s 107.9 FM (KFIN) station and the ASU pep band. The event will be held in the Convocation Center arena for the first time ever, utilizing the arena’s high definition jumbotrons to display highlights of the Red Wolves’ first football recruiting class under new head coach Bryan Harsin. The arena’s sound system was also recently upgraded to include a new two-tier speaker system that includes 28 total speakers.
Fans attending the Recruiting Round-up will hear from Harsin and his staff as they give a first-hand recount of their experiences on the recruiting trail with a detailed review of each signee. Fans will also have the opportunity to interact with the coaching staff during the program by asking questions over the sound system about A-State’s latest recruiting class.
“With the addition of our championship celebration and the enhancements to the Recruiting Round-Up, we are extremely excited about this year’s program,” said Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Promotions Gleen Hart. “This is an opportunity for us to thank our outstanding fans for the big role they played in our championship season and also to give them an in-depth look at our newest class of Red Wolves, so we feel this is going to be a great event.”
