A-State is Finalist in Stanley's 'Together for Safer Schools' Competition
JONESBORO – This month’s Arkansas State University safety tip is a way that you can help make your campus more safe and secure.
A-State is a finalist for the Stanley Security “Together for Safer Schools” grant program. Stanley Security will award up to $150,000 to the universities that get the most online votes.
Starting Monday, Jan. 19, and running through Feb. 13, students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and fans of the Red Wolves can vote each day for Arkansas State.
“We constantly look for ways we can improve security and safety on campus,” stated Randy Martin, Chief of University Police. “If A-State is voted the winner, we would like to use the funds awarded to purchase equipment that could be installed in university buildings to enhance safety for our campus community. We hope everyone will vote for A-State.”
There are three ways to vote each day:
- Via the voting website: www.stanleysaferschools.com
- By texting “AState” to 334455 (standard texting charges may apply)
- Or by tweeting with both hashtags: #StanleySecurity #AState
The university with the most total votes will receive a grant of $150,000 in products, including enhanced door security hardware and additional security cameras. The runner-up receives a grant of $50,000.
Everyone can vote once per day on each platform. The university community is encouraged to help make Arkansas State a more secure campus by voting often and sharing this message with friends on social media.
In its second year, the Stanley Security Together for Safer Schools Grant Program provides the opportunity to enhance safety and security in the nation’s higher education institutions by awarding winning schools a share of a substantial grant of Stanley Security products and services.
The top two colleges or universities with the most votes in each of three size categories will be selected as grant winners. Winners will be notified in March.
Offerings provided to grant winners include consultative security services, access to Stanley Security’s premier Software Solutions Group (SSG), seminars for school officials on security threat assessment, and advanced Clery Act training offered by Stanley Security partner and campus security experts, D. Stafford & Associates.
Stanley Security is a division of Stanley Black & Decker (NYSE: SWK). The Together for Safer Schools Grant Program, a national contest established by the organization in 2013, offers U.S. colleges and universities the opportunity to rally students, faculty and campus communities to win Stanley Security installed products and services through a $600,000 grant.
