A-State Lecture-Concert Series to Host Two Artists
JONESBORO- The Lecture-Concert Series, which is an annual series of performances hosted at Arkansas State University, is underway and will feature performances Wednesday, Oct. 16 and Thursday, Oct. 17.
Isaac Cates, a composer and musician, will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday,
Oct. 16, inside the Recital Hall in the Fine Arts Center.
With roots in gospel and soul music, Cates will take attendees on a journey, showing the connections between vocal music, religion, and those with no religious background.
The series will continue at 6 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 17, with author Dr. Bryan Keith Hotchkins. He will speak inside the Mockingbird Room of the Reng Student Union.
Hotchkins, an author and artist, will lead the event where participants will be able to interactively reflect on their self-perceptions of race and other aspects of identity.
The next event will be held in the auditorium of Reng Student Union at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, featuring Dr. Laura Soter, assistant professor of philosophy at York University in Toronto.
